Welcome to the Board Game Kingdom Where the Pieces Come to Life

At the heart of Kabukicho, Shinjuku, stands a castle of board games—this is “BRETT BURG.” More than just a concept cafe, it’s a world where over 500 types of board games await you, alongside cast members who seem to have stepped right out of a chessboard. These girls become game pieces, supporting your adventures on the board. While bound by the rules, each moment unfolds based on your choices, making you feel like the protagonist of a grand strategy game.

Bathed in the glow of sparkling chandeliers, the interior feels like a ballroom straight out of a fairytale. The space blends gothic and fantasy aesthetics, and your heart will skip a beat the moment you step inside. Whether engaging in serious gameplay at the table seats or casually chatting with cast members at the counter, your experience is entirely up to you. Even board game beginners can relax, as our staff will carefully explain the rules. Whether intense or lighthearted, every style of play is welcomed in this kingdom.

Stories Move Across the Board—Guided by the Cast’s Smiles

“How the game plays out is up to the players. But the rules are absolute.” This one phrase embodies everything about Brett Burg. The cast members are residents of the board game world, referring to themselves as “pieces” and responding to the strategies and playful spirit of the visiting players. They can guide the game as game masters or jump in and enjoy the game with you. Their role goes beyond just serving—you’ll find them co-starring in your board game adventure.

Their outfits are original costumes designed to resemble classic chess pieces. While based on a black and white color scheme, each costume is tailored to reflect the cast’s unique personality, adding to the visual enjoyment of the cafe. Using in-store currency called “Bureburu Chips,” you can take polaroid-style photos (cheki) with the cast or gift them drinks. The chip system is cleverly woven into the experience like a mini-game itself, letting each player design their own way of having fun.
